DIY Canvas Art For Kids

Need something super fun and easy to do with the kids on a weekend afternoon? Yet they look so pretty you want to hang them on the walls of your living room.

I’ve been wanting a name art or a monogram for my kids’ rooms. Something personalized, either store bought, DIY myself or by the kids. Then, I remembered my eldest has been asking me to get a canvas for her to paint on. So, with the help of painter’s tape, I’ve decided to let my kids make their own name art.

My eldest was so happy that we’re doing this project. And it was so simple, my 2.5 year old toddler managed to personalize her own canvas as well.

Materials you’ll need:

  • Painter’s tape
  • Canvas
  • Acrylic or Watercolour paint
  • Brushes

1. Firstly, on a blank canvas, tape-on the painter’s tape how you want it. We did one canvas with my daughter’s name on it and another a letter monogram. It doesn’t has to be perfectly straight. But you might want to paste the tape as firmly as possible onto the canvas to prevent ‘bleeding’.

2. It’s now time to paint!

3. Once they’re finish with painting, leave it to dry.

4. Then, slowly peel-off the tape and voila!

I made a mistake from not pressing the tape firmly enough onto the canvas and you could see the colour ‘bleeds’ through. However, they’re still so cute you just want to hang them on the walls of your living room.
