2021 Project And Work In Progress

Dear Beautiful Readers!
It’s been way toooo long since my last post. How long has it been now? 3 months? Or more? Wow, time flies when you’re working on a project. A lot of things have happened over the past 3 months but I’m not going to bother you with the details.
What I wanted to share with you is, sometimes life gives you inspiration and you don’t just sit on it. You take that and do something with it. I believe, life is too short to – just ponder. And if you need to take a pause to give way for other priorities, then that’s what you should do. For me, it’s always been my girls, my family and now – my new project.
It was scary to take the first step after just seeing it on paper. But right now, I love seeing the progress I’ve made so far. I love seeing it slowly come to life. It’s amazing how much progress you can make in 3 months. Alright, you must be wondering right now what the heck am I talking about. What am I actually working on. Well, it’s a … Book. Yes, you’ve read that right – a Children’s Book!
Didn’t see that coming, did ya? 🙂
So, what inspired me?
Here’s the thing, we travel to Malaysia (where I come from) every year to visit my parents and family members, whom I miss so dearly right now. On the other hand, it’s also for my kids to understand and observe different cultures, traditions, trying out different cuisines, and to open their minds that the world is made up of beautiful societies. Since the pandemic, the lockdowns, the travel restrictions, we’ve not travelled for almost 2 years now. Which means, I’ve not seen my parents and family in Malaysia for almost 2 years other than through video calls.
One day, while the girls and I were talking about a topic with regards to Malaysia or something to that matter, they didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. That’s reason no.1 – to write a children’s book with some correlation with Malaysia.
Reason no.2 – It’s something I’ve been toying around in my mind for quite some time and decided it’s time to buckle down and get started.
So, for the past 3 months or so, that’s exactly what I’ve been working on.
What’s the book about?
It’s a tale about accepting someone or something for who or what they are, written from a perspective of a fruit. And you’ll also discover other exotic tropical fruits, which you may or may not have seen. It’s actually really cute!
Where am I now with the book?
I’m glad to say the book has been illustrated and is currently in the formatting and layout stage. Also, making sure every spelling, punctuation, ellipsis, contractions, the flow of writing – you name it, are written correctly.
I also thought of revamping Beverlogue to an author’s website instead of a blog. However, I still like writing about other things than just about ‘writing’ itself. I like to write about my journey as a mother, parenting in a bilingual, bicultural, and borderless sphere. Therefore, I’ve decided to make just a minor change in the blog and to share that I’m still in the picture.
And I promise that the next post won’t take another 3 months. Send me a note if I don’t keep that promise. You know how at times you get sidetracked when you’re busy with something else.
Till next time!
